Renewal of the Collective agreement

The parties strike a deal

“A five year agreement, highlighted by financial guarantees and significant changes for working conditions, I think our members will be satisfied”. Those were the first comments by Mario Poudrier, the APS National President, commenting on the renewal of the collective agreement he had negotiated with Management. The Memorandum of understanding signed in the evening of August 29 concluded discussions that had been initiated in April between the parties.

In announcing the event to the APS National Executive Committee, Mario underlined the contribution of his negotiation team for its support and cooperation; Andy Libby, Toronto President, Stephane Desautels, Montreal President, Emilio D’Orazio the National Secretary General and Claude Beausoleil, General Manager, attending this negotiation as well as all of the previous APS negotiations alongside Mario.

The conclusion of this agreement comes in time to submit to all of our voting members the proposed contract along with the list of other important decisions they will be examining during the month of September. An imposing postal kit will be sent out by mail within the next few days. Mario will also visit our main Locals to explain the contents of the proposed collective agreement.

In addition to the usual proposals submitted to our Annual General Assembly, voting members will be asked to accfept the new deal on Pension and Benefits as well as the new work contract. The full text of the Memorandum for the collective agreement will be available on our Web site and members will be receiving by mail a commented review of the modifications.
